The Oom Maw Maw

Cookin' and smokin' live on stage. We don't know if this group still exists but this four piece vocal band sure is swinging! [980906 Now we do know, see the update (Dutch only).]

In addition, the `Oom maw maw on stage' is one of our favourite records.

Pop, fusion jazz, Latin, this group sings it all with a breathtaking spirit. The combination of clever arrangements (Escualo), with sweet ballads (Dayton Ohio, 1903), swinging scat solo's (Walkin') and a hilarious version of `Fever' gives this record a very light character. Once more you can hear they are having a great time themselves!

Their second album, `Roger's living room' is no less worth listening to.

Bass-singer Tobias Oudejans is replaced by baritone Hans Cassa is added to the group. The name of the record becomes clear when viewing the photo's in the booklet: the studio they recorded this album in looks like a living room indeed.

However, this does not mean that the feeling of this album is any less `spontaneous'.

They definitely have developed their skills in imitating instruments with a stunning a cappella version of `West Side Story prologue' as a result.
